01 / scope

What this page covers

Applies to

This policy covers the current Ledge release for iPhone and iPad, and this marketing website.

Does not depend on

Ledge does not require you to create a separate Ledge account or store your ledger in a developer-run cloud.

02 / app data

How the app stores your data

Ledge is designed so your financial data stays under your control. The app stores your ledger on your device.

  • No separate sign-up is required to use the app.
  • The app is designed to work as a standalone personal finance tool.
  • Bank-account linking is not built in.

In practical terms

Ledge is meant to be useful without asking you to hand your financial record to a developer-run storage service.

03 / iCloud and App Lock

iCloud sync and device security

If you enable sync, your data stays in your private iCloud storage. iCloud sync is optional.

App Lock

Ledge uses device security for App Lock instead of creating a separate in-app PIN system.

Your choice

You can use the app without iCloud sync if you prefer to keep data local to the device.

04 / external services

Optional live exchange rates

Live exchange-rate refresh stays off until you turn it on. If you enable it, Ledge uses an external exchange-rate provider to refresh rate data.

  • If you turn live refresh on from Add Account or Settings, Ledge shows a disclosure before it contacts an external provider.
  • Ledge keeps using your currently selected provider until you change it in Settings > Exchange Rates.
  • The app can use providers such as Frankfurter and Ledge-FX, depending on the provider you selected.
  • Provider requests are for exchange-rate data only. No personal data or transaction ledger data is sent as part of that request.
  • Live quotes are cached on-device and reused when available.
  • When live refresh is enabled, Ledge may refresh rates when the app becomes active, but those automatic foreground refresh checks are limited to about once every 12 hours unless the cache is missing.
  • You can still refresh manually from Settings at any time.
  • If you later turn live refresh off, Ledge stops contacting providers immediately, but already-cached provider quotes remain available on your device.
  • Manual exchange rates remain available if you prefer not to use a live provider.

How it works

Ledge retrieves exchange-rate data, caches it on-device, and then uses that local cache for currency lookups inside the app. If an import, restore, or other cross-currency workflow still needs missing rates, Ledge keeps those required-rate items locally until you resolve them in Settings > Exchange Rates.

05 / portability

Imports, exports, and backups

Ledge includes import, export, backup, and restore tools so you can keep copies of your records on your terms.

Imports

Ledge can import supported files such as CSV, OFX/QFX, and QIF.

Backups

Backups can be created with or without attachments, depending on what you choose to keep.

06 / retention

Retention and deletion

Ledge does not maintain a developer-run server copy of your financial ledger data.

  • Data stored in the app remains on your device unless you enable iCloud sync.
  • If iCloud sync is enabled, your data remains in your private iCloud storage until you remove it.
  • You can delete app data from your device, disable iCloud sync, and remove backups or exports you created.

Your control

Because Ledge is designed to stand alone, data retention is primarily controlled by what you keep on your device, in your iCloud storage, and in any backups or exports you choose to create.

07 / website

What this website does

This is a static informational website. It does not ask you to create a Ledge account or submit your financial data into the site itself.

  • The site currently loads Google Fonts from Google-hosted font services.
  • The site currently loads GSAP and ScrollTrigger from jsDelivr.
  • Those providers may receive standard technical request information when the page loads.
